77th Annual Nā Hula Festival

Hawaiʻi’s longest-running, non-competitive, annual hula event will once again grace the grounds at the Kapiʻolani Regional Park bandstand.

The 77th annual Nā Hula Festival will take place on Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and members of the public are welcome to attend this time honored display of Hawaiian culture.

The festival has celebrated the artistry and grace of Hawai`i's dance since its creation in 1940, when the Department of Parks and Recreation kumu hula (hula instructors) did a ho'ike (showcase) of their haumana (students).

Some of the kumu hula participating in Nā Hula are hula instructors at our various community parks, and others are past lei queens from the City's annual Lei Day Celebration. This year's 2017 Lei Queen and Court will make an appearance at the festival.
