Cities across the world all have their signature foods—pizza in New York, Chicago’s hot dogs and SPAM in Hawaii. The islands’ affinity for SPAM has been a love affair years in the making, going back from World War II when the luncheon meat was served to soldiers. Millions of cans later, Hawai‘i continues to celebrate the island staple at the annual Waikiki SPAM JAM, with the 15th annual street festival set for April 29, 2017 along Kalakaua Avenue, 4-10 p.m. The... event is free to attend.

This street festival is great for all ages, as the event includes Hawaii’s top restaurants, three stages with non-stop entertainment, and a variety of Hawaiian retailers. This is also a special event that benefits the Hawaii Foodbank, the largest non-profit in Hawaii that feeds the needy. The event also features SPAM brand merchandise tents, a variety of SPAM-themed photo opportunities, a kids area, free SPAM sampling and so much more!
