Hawaiian Music Walk of Fame Gala

Hawaiian Music Walk of Fame

Organizer of Hawaiian Music Walk of Fame Gala

In the 1930's, Hawaiian Music traveled to 750 radio stations around the world bringing "Aloha" and a visual image of Hawaii created solely by the music itself. People were lured to the Islands on steam ships after hearing the weekly radio program, "HAWAII CALLS." Legendary singers from that era and beyond include: Alfred Apaka, Hilo Hattie, Chick Daniels, Auntie Alice Namakelua, Gabby Pahinui and Don Ho.

A memorial walk is being planned in Waikiki at a location where music was once written by the beloved Queen Lili`uokalani. There will be bronze plaques on the sidewalk with a description of each Legend and on the adjacent wall there will be another bronze plaque showing each of their portraits and names.

e need your help to make this memorial a reality and to preserve the history and tradition of Hawaiian Music for generations to come. Your assistance will enable millions of tourists and thousands of Hawai`i residents who visit Waikiki each year to learn about the Legends whose music helped to make Waikiki world famous. It will also serve as a living inspiration to young Hawai`i musicians. As a Founding Contributor, you will know that you have made this famous walk possible.
